Understanding Our Grooming Contentment Chart
To ensure a positive experience, we require that dogs be in the "Green" category or higher on our Grooming Contentment Chart. This means they need to have at least one regular grooming session before we set an appointment for coloring. Our chart helps us categorize how comfortable and relaxed dogs are during grooming, and only those who are in the Green category or above may participate in the coloring process.
Safety and Consultation
For more intricate designs or lightening cream we will require a design consultation. This allows us to participate in your vision and ensure your dog’s comfort and safety throughout the process. When lightening cream is involved, it will take one session for application of lightening cream, as well as a second session for the application of color. These two appointments need to be scheduled with a minimum of three days apart.
Products and Ingredients
We exclusively use OPAWZ products, known for their safety and quality in pet grooming. Their coloring options include semi-permanent, permanent, shampoo, and chalk products. Colors are made with food-grade products.

Lightening Cream and Developer:
Lightening cream and Developer are lab-tested, low-grade lighteners used with hydrogen peroxide, ensuring they are safe for dogs. Test patches are highly recommended due to the potential for skin dryness.
We will not us lightener on your dog’s entire body.
Allergy Considerations
While our color products are safe when used by experienced professionals, dogs with any known skin allergies should avoid them. Similar to humans, dogs can develop allergies to any product applied to their skin. Our grooming contract includes comprehensive details on this matter, which clients must review and sign before proceeding with our coloring service.
Duration and Lifestyle Impact
The longevity of the color will vary based on the dog’s lifestyle. More active dogs or those frequently in water will experience more temporary results compared to less active dogs or those groomed less frequently. Permanent dyes can last up to a year, semi-permanent colors from 3 to 5 months, and shampoos up to 3 months.
Grooming Requirements
We require that dogs be professionally groomed or bathed within the last 8 weeks before a coloring appointment. Additionally, dogs cannot be in a major shedding cycle or have dirt on their fur, as these factors can affect color adherence. We apply color before the initial bath to minimize additional grooming steps and stress for your pet.
Time and Cost
Coloring is a separate process from grooming that requires time in addition to your normal groom. Simple designs or small areas like ears and tails are faster and use less product compared to large-scale or full-body designs. Color work typically needs 35 minutes to set, and dogs may need to stand during this period depending on the design.
Our rate is $70 per hour plus the cost of product. Please inform us about any interest in incorporating color while booking your appointment.
