Grooming Contentment Chart

We understand that every dog is unique, and their comfort and behavior during grooming sessions vary. To provide the best grooming experience tailored to each individual pet, we have developed a Grooming Contentment Chart. This chart categorizes dogs based on their behaviors and comfort levels during grooming, allowing us to personalize our approach and ensure a positive and stress-free experience for every client.

Our Grooming Contentment Chart consists of six distinct categories, each representing different aspects of a dog's response to grooming procedures. By identifying which category best describes your dog, we can customize our grooming techniques and ensure that your pet feels as safe, relaxed, and content throughout the grooming process as we can make them feel.

Explore the categories below to learn more about how we assess and accommodate your dog's grooming needs

Purple:

Dogs in the Purple category are at the pinnacle of comfort during grooming sessions. These are the happy campers who strut in with a wagging tail or become most relaxed once their owner has left. We encounter no issues with these pets during the grooming process; they are typically relaxed or even enjoy the experience. Our pups in the Purple category embody the ideal grooming companion, and our goal is to maintain their positive grooming experience.

Blue:

Dogs categorized in Blue are very close to Purple but may have one or two minor preferences or dislikes during grooming. While they may be exceptionally well-behaved for most of the grooming session, they could have reservations about specific tasks such as nail trimming or getting wet in the tub. We strive to address these minor discomforts and work towards enhancing their overall relaxation and contentment throughout the grooming process.

Green:

Dogs in the Green category display decent grooming behavior but require a bit of extra attention. They may exhibit signs of stress such as shaking or panting and may not prefer certain aspects of grooming, possibly avoiding one or two specific procedures. We aim to create a calming environment and tailor our approach to ensure they feel more comfortable and secure during their grooming experience.

Yellow:

Yellow-category dogs may show reluctance or discomfort upon arrival at our shop and throughout the grooming session. They tolerate at least half of the grooming process but may not enjoy much of it. Some may even require a muzzle or cone for certain procedures. Our primary goal is behavioral improvement, focusing on gradual progress and building trust to enhance their comfort and reduce stress during grooming sessions.

Orange:

Dogs classified in the Orange category require significant assistance and patience to improve their grooming experience. Our focus shifts from aesthetics to ensuring they feel better with minimal stress. They may exhibit behaviors such as biting or crying and might require a muzzle or cone for their safety and ours. Each grooming session is approached with care, aiming to minimize stress and discomfort through a calming and methodical process tailored to their needs.

Red:

Dogs classified in the Red category present unique challenges that may necessitate sedation and specialized care by a veterinarian for grooming. Safety considerations are paramount, and we prioritize the well-being of both our staff and your pet. While it is our hope to avoid classifying dogs in this category, there are instances where sedated grooming is necessary due to health conditions, advanced age, or traumatic experiences. Our team remains committed to exploring all options for improvement while prioritizing the comfort and safety of your pet.

While our aim is to elevate every pet's grooming experience to the Purple category, we understand that various factors such as health conditions or aging can influence behavior and comfort levels. Some dogs may have limitations or boundaries that prevent them from progressing beyond a certain point, and that's perfectly okay. Our commitment is to transparency and communication with our clients, allowing us to address concerns early and enhance your pet's comfort and well-being through our personalized approach. Pets must reach a green/blue category to be accepted for a coloring appointment and it will depend what classifies them in their category. We do not support extending the grooming process for aesthetic opportunities if your pet has no tolerance.
